In 2025, Patek Philippe released over a dozen new models, among which the Calatrava 5328G watch was particularly noteworthy. This timepiece features a manual-winding movement (31-505 8J PS IRM CI J) with an eight-day power reserve, plus a ninth day of "backup" power. This is Patek Philippe's second eight-day power reserve timepiece since the 5200 Gondolo in 2013. This movement features an instantaneous day and date display, as well as a power reserve indicator. It employs a Gyromax balance wheel, Spiromax hairspring, and Pulsomax escapement. To achieve its exceptionally long power reserve, the movement features two mainspring barrels, each covered by a finely finished bridge engraved with the Patek Philippe seal.
Breitling's highlight of the year is the B31 movement. This is a three-hand movement with a 78-hour power reserve and is officially certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). In terms of appearance, the B31 movement features Geneva stripes on the bridges, perforated finish on the mainplate, and a skeletonized rotor. The B31 movement, first introduced in the TOP TIME series, is now available in the Superocean Heritage series. The new model largely retains the same design as its predecessor, including a ceramic bezel, arrow-shaped hands, and a date window at 6 o'clock. To better showcase the details of the B31 movement, the new Superocean Heritage dive watch features a see-through case back. Girard-Perregaux's new movement is named GP 4800. It measures 25.6 mm in diameter and 4.28 mm in thickness, features a free-sprung balance, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a 55-hour power reserve. The mainplate is finished with sandblasting and perforation, while the bridges are adorned with Geneva stripes, showcasing rich detail. In terms of materials, the escapement and rollers are made of silicon, offering lightweight, antimagnetic, and wear-resistant properties, and also possessing a degree of antimagnetic capability. The GP4800 movement debuts in the Laurel series 50th anniversary edition, with details visible through the transparent case back, such as the engraved arrow motif and the skeletonized rotor inspired by the brand's iconic "Three Gold Bridges Tourbillon." The watch features a refined 39mm case diameter and incorporates precious metals. Paired with a grey sunburst dial with a Clous de Paris pattern, it exudes a vintage and elegant feel. Its release is expected to replace the long-used GP3000 model, becoming the mainstay of Girard-Perregaux's basic functional models going forward.
Panerai's annual movement, the P.980. This movement has a diameter of 28.2 mm, a frequency of 28,800 VPH, an in-house Incabloc shock absorber, a single mainspring barrel providing a 3-day power reserve, and a stop-seconds function. The new Lumino Marina watch, powered by this movement, features the series' classic 44 mm case and the iconic crown guards. The new generation of Panerai Luminor Marina clone features a case thickness reduced from 15.65 mm to 13.7 mm, a decrease of approximately 12%, and a weight reduction of approximately 15%, resulting in a more comfortable wearing experience. Furthermore, it incorporates Super-LumiNova® X2 luminescence and improves water resistance to 500 meters.
